I am always trying to teach my kids about how lucky they are to be in such a fortunate situation, so the other day when my youngest came up to me and asked if I could buy her a new doll stroller, I decided that this would be a good time to teach her about giving to others. My experience with pregnancy was a blessing but it was also difficult. My husband and I had it all planned out – right down to what maternity skirts to buy. We would wait two years after getting married to try and get pregnant. We were a lucky couple as it only took about two months after I stopped taking birth control for it to happen. My menstrual cycle ran like clockwork and the month we found out I was pregnant, it was supposed to start on my birthday. The day went by and no period. This had never happened before so I thought to myself, wouldn’t this be an awesome birthday present. And it was! I took a pregnancy test two days later and it was positive. I took another just to make sure. Then I shared the big news with my husband and my family who was visiting at the time. The worst thing about being pregnant was the morning sickness which ended up being all day sickness. For the first several months, I was sick all the time. I still remember eating pizza and the horrible results of that endeavor. I wouldn’t change it for the world, however, because I now have a beautiful son from the experience!
