Pros and Cons of Advantix for Cats
Tuesday, January 10th, 2012
Advantix for cats is a type of medication prescribed for the control of flea infestation in pets. This medication is almost one hundred percent efficient in both cats and dogs. However, it should be used with a bit of caution as it may pose a health risk to both humans and animals. In most cases, advantix makes the pet look oily on the applied area and causes some skin irritation which may be accompanied by redness and itching on the skin. This medication should be used for the control of pests on cats and dogs and not for any other purpose. Its prescription implies that the formulation for cats should only be used for cats and likewise with the dog formulation. You should use it on dogs that are over seven weeks old and eight weeks old cats. In addition, advantix is very risky to the development of small puppies and therefore it shouldn’t be applied on pregnant pets.

Dogs Rule, Girls Drool
Saturday, December 31st, 2011
Dogs rule, girls drool! I love dogs and really want to get one for my pet! I can not get one right now because I have a full timejob and am never home but one day, when my life settles down and I have more time on my hands I will definitely be getting a puppy.
I am in love with all breeds of dog so finding a breed that would be the right one for me would be at the top of my to do list before getting a dog. I like big dogs, over small dogs, smart dogs over dumb dogs, tall dogs over short dogs. A dog like the Great Dane would be perfect for me but the only draw back to these awesome dogs is the food bill that goes with them. Weighing upwards of 130 pounds when fully grown, and standing nearly four feet tall these monsters will eat you out of house and home!

Reasons Why Endangered Animals Need Your Protection
Tuesday, December 20th, 2011
The number of endangered animals is increasing rapidly across the world and as a result, they are prone to become extinct if nothing is done to stop this alarming global issue. For this reason, most people who have a genuine love for these endangered animals such as the rhinos and elephants are making efforts to conserve them on a voluntary basis at the behest of conservation organizers who have developed concepts of gap years for adults.
The endangered animals such as the tigers, which are mainly live in South East China, Russia, and Sumatra in Indonesia, require animal conservationists to come up with serious strategies to help save them from extinction since there are only 4000 of them remaining across the world. People who engage in illegal wildlife trade are largely responsible for the declining numbers of endangered animals and for this reason; it is advisable for wildlife conservationists to improve significantly their efforts to stop this menace.

Litter Box Enclosures Benefit Both Cats and Cat Owners
Wednesday, November 16th, 2011
Whether cats or cat owners benefit more from litter box enclosures remains debatable, but one thing is clear: both cats and cat owners do benefit greatly from the use of these litter box enclosures. A lot of these litter box enclosures are now made as cat furniture pieces that are enclosed, and so gone are the days when we tried so hard to avoid looking at the contents of our litter box furniture. However, some cats tend to be claustrophobic, and this is why some litter box furniture ensures that openings are big enough for cats to leave the litter box furniture as easily, as soon as they are done doing number 1 or number 2. Boxes that are automated also guarantee that cats are able to see properly inside them, leaving cats to do their business comfortably. Because of the many benefits of litter box enclosures, more and more cat owners are buying them.

Try Using Crate Training
Monday, October 17th, 2011
If you are at a loss as to how to effectively potty train your dog, then try using crate training as your means of doing so. What is so great about crate training is that it teaches the dog to not go to the bathroom in spaces where it eats and sleeps. What is imperative is that the crate be big enough for the dog to stand and turn around in. Another great training tool is the head collar. What I love about these is that they can act as a muzzle if need be, but are in point of fact not muzzles at all. IN fact, with a head collar the dog can bark, bite, eat, drink and pant. The head collar gives you the dog owner the opportunity to tell the dog that you are the pack leader. Whe you are able to establish this they are much more behaved.

Shots for Puppies
Friday, September 9th, 2011
Shots for puppiesPuppies receiving vaccination should have a schedule and it should be up to date. The owner should keep these records safe. At 5 weeks of age, the puppy should receive a shot of Parvovirus. Parvo is one of the most dangerous diseases to a dog. The earlier the vaccination administered the better for the dog. At 6 and 9 weeks of age, the puppy should receive a combination vaccine of adenovirus/kennel cough, hepatitis, parainfluenza and distemper.
When the puppy is 12 weeks old, the Rabies shot should be given. It is advised that the veterinary should give this vaccine. This is sensitive and should be handled by a professional. At 13 to 15 weeks of age, the puppy should get a combination vaccination again. The shots are for Lyme and Leptosirosis. These are for animals that move around from one area to another. Because of changing locations frequently, infection probability is high. After the schedule, boosters will be administered annually to sustain the immune systems against normal pathogens.

Puppy Training Keep Your Commands Short
Saturday, August 27th, 2011
When you are starting with your puppy training program, it is best to have a puppy training guide that you can use as reference while you teach your pet basic things. If you still do not have a guide, there is only one thing that you have to take note of as you start the program. It is a fact that in puppy training, the shorter the commands, the more effective the results will be.
Puppies cannot fully understand complicated instructions. You should do things one step at a time. It is like having chunks of commands that when combined, can constitute a complex trick or training. You also have to be consistent with the words that you use in giving instructions. In puppy training, a word for correction should never be used as the same word for giving praise. Your puppy will become confused on what behavior should be shown when the command is issued. This is very important to make sure that you have a targeted result for every word that is registered in your puppy’s memory. Puppy training will be easy if you will be guided by this simple principle.

Dog Training Collars
Friday, May 27th, 2011
Dog training collars can help even the most backward of us to teach, the most stubborn of our pets, new command to obey, or help to break those annoying habits that can cause stress and disorder in our homes. Most dogs do things from habit or instinct. If it is an instinct we will try to curb it as best as we can for our pets safety, but sometimes our own actions lead to the habits that are the hardest to break. If our dogs learns that if he barks you will pay attention to him, then just like our kids who learn when they are bad they will get attention, so they try to be bad. Our pets will bark to get attention, but the dog training collars can help break the bad habits and replace them good habits. So remember watch our habits and maybe they will not create bad habits, but if they try dog training collars and maybe soon they will come out with child training collars.

Do You Know About Doberman Separation Anxiety?
Sunday, March 6th, 2011
One of the things that you can do to help ease the problem with Doberman separation anxiety is to change your daily routine. Many of us get up at the same time in the morning and have a routine that we follow as we are getting ready to go to work or whatever it is that we are doing for the day. This routine adds to the Doberman separation anxiety because he knows that you are getting ready to leave the home. While being a creature of habit is comfortable for us, it is very uncomfortable for the dog. These habits make the dog nervous and he will get to a point where he cannot control his feelings of anxiety. You can curb this anxiety by making small changes to your routine. Start by not waking up at the same time every day. Then change the order that you do things.

Where Are the Fleas?
Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011
Sometimes, instead of wondering if my dog has fleas, I wonder “where are the fleas?”
Fleas as dark, wingless, creatures that have a body like a flat, armor-plated tank. When adults, they can jump 200 times their own body length and have the ability to raise thousands of offspring. The females are bigger than the males and either sex has the ability to pull 400 times their own weight.
So, other than these fascinating little facts, why should we care? Don’t worry, I’m getting to that.
Fleas have different stages of life. They start out as an egg which can be deposited almost anywhere. Trust me, if your dog likes to spend time on your bed or on the furniture, there are probably flea eggs there. This is my biggest concern; however, the interesting part comes next.
The egg will eventually become larvae. It can wait in this stage from 9 to 200 days. This means that even though you may have taken care of the fleas that were currently on your dog a month or so ago, there may still be more waiting to hatch.
But wait, it gets better, once they leave the larvae stage, they become pupae. They can stay in the pupae state for 1 week to 1 year waiting for the right conditions to become an adult. You see, if they pop out of the pupae state at the wrong time, like when there are no warm blooded animals around, they can starve to death. Therefore they will wait in the pupae state until a nice, warm-blooded animal produces enough vibration and warmth and they emerge from their hiding place. At that time, they may come out of as a soon-to-be adult flea and start sucking blood.
In short, fleas can hang out in your house, on your furniture for up to a year. It is important to stay vigilant and not let them take over. There are many different ways to fight fleas. Check out K9 Advantix reviews to learn more. If you think your dog has dog allergies to fleas, you can also learn about that as well.

Names for Male Dogs
Monday, February 21st, 2011
Getting a new puppy is one of the funnest experiences that you can have. They’re cute, cuddly and full of energy. But they also require a whole lot of care in the first few months. They need to be fed, potty trained, crate trained, introduced to the other members of the family and many other things. That’s just to get them started.
But, before you can think of doing any of those things, you need to put some thought into naming the little tyke. If you brought home a male dog, you’ll want to look into boy dog names on the Internet. There are also books that you can purchase to help you with your decision.
A name shouldn’t just be thrown at the dog. Take into consideration many factors before giving him a name, including: what is his breed? You don’t want to name a German Shepherd Fifi or Fido. You want something like Hilda or Bruno.
