Dinner Business
Written by Unmukt Goel
Dining for us NUS students is severely restricted to a quick bite at the canteens or a casual dinner in our hall dining room. The fine art of dining is not something we practice everyday, yet proper etiquette while dining at formal functions is a must in the world we will step into after graduation.

In this corporate world, the impressions we make on other people greatly affect our personal success. Dining etiquette, apart from making a favorable impression, projects one's status and affects how others perceive us. While the basis of such etiquette is basic courtesy and well known table manners like ‘no elbows on the table', formal dining can be a lot more complicated and calls for a higher awareness and understanding of dining etiquette.

In this article, HOOKED looks at some of the most elementary dining rules that should help you to create a good impression.

Atas Makan Places
Written by Huang Yifang
Food-wise, we all have our different definitions of what qualifies as atas (colloquial term for high class).

If you think S$18 for a main course is stretching it, consider those who pay that price for a Soupe de coque au safran (New Zealand "Little Neck" clams soup with saffron and cream) at Au Petit Salut French Restaurant on Harding Road.

Wait, so what are New Zealand "Little Neck" clams? How are they different from those canned clams (which aren't that cheap either) you buy from the supermarket? Well, I don't suppose most of us would taste the difference. However, a hint of exoticness always bodes well in the atas food hunter's book.

HOOKED brings to you a comprehensive guide that would satisfy your gluttony.

The Strange Kinds of Delicacies
Written by Nur Rashidah
If we are what we eat, then I'm guessing that these totally peculiar 'delicacies' would very likely have one labelled an oddball. The recess week has already started and I'm sure that we bored young adults would want something to spice up our lives. (Readings and revisions do not count, obviously.)

Since we all love our food, let's get creative with them, shall we? Let HOOKED boggle your mind with these totally odd food combinations!

When it comes to food, I don't expect the royal treatment, but when I get it, I know I'm in for a treat. HOOKED warns you not to salivate (alright, at least not too much) over what you are going to see next, because with the imperial service, comes a majestic price too.

To our surprise, a walk through the nearest mega mall, Vivocity, showed that there is hope for those blessed (or cursed) with small appetites.
