I spend my days at the kopitiam (read: coffee-shop), drinking fifty-cents kopi (read: coffee) out of a
glass mug. My singlet is branded, I'll have you know. Flying Horse
brand. My slippers are from Bata, no wait…actually, they’re from Bato,
a cheap ripoff of Bata with a letter altered to avoid copyright issues.
As I sit there, watching all the 'bananas' drink
their Starbucks coffee, clad in their Fandi tote-bags and Kuchi
shoes (did I get the brand names right? Oh, never mind!), I am filled
with the desire to be like them - to be atas (read: high class).
So how can I fake being

What is a classic beauty?
Probably not the instant pop idols of Taiwanese variety shows. With their anorexic frames, mismatch garb, ice kachang hair colour and child-like squeals, they can hardly cut the fine figure of a classic beauty. If anything, they are products of trends.
But, alas, fads come and go, but classic beauty, like anything else that is classic, never goes out of style. A classic beauty will remain beautiful whether it's the 14th century or the 21st century. She carries herself with such poise and grace, it's almost daunting.
