Good friends and music
Although all the members are good friends, they still have their differences once in awhile. However, unlike their loud songs and strong lyrics, they are very rational when it comes to work.
"If we don't see eye to eye, for example if Xiao Qian (Bass player) feels that using the wood guitar is better for a certain song but Gua wants the electric guitar instead, we'll get them to do a demo version on their own and compare both to decide."
While Xiao Qian prefers silence for her creative process, Zha Zha enjoys thinking up new songs during midnight when the atmosphere is better. Gua however says, "Inspiration comes to me anytime, anywhere but usually after a significant incident like a breakup etc."
It is no surprise to find that Cherry Boom's favourite singers are rock stars too: Hong Kong singer Nicholas Tse, Japanese band Luna Sea and American band Linkin Park are a few. But being true blue Taiwanese, they all love Mayday's music.
"We hope to work with them in future. Mayday is a group we look up to and want to learn from."
Love thyself, love thy band
"Love is a topic (that) most of our songs revolve around, as we feel that most of our emotional ups and downs are usually because of love. You might find yourself happy (for) one second, and extremely upset the next, so I feel that it is important for us to love ourselves most of all. You will find songs in this album like "7", which (we) want to express our feelings about relationships... basically things you'd want to tell your friends about," Zha Zha said.
When asked what they would have done if they had not become artistes, Cherry Boom was unanimous in their answer.
"We would still have formed our band, make our music and perform for anyone who's willing to listen!" Hooked
