Written by Rachel Xu
Timbre is a feisty nook of a restaurant-bar that boasts great food, drinks and music all in one idyllic setting.

Centrally located along Armenian Street, first-timers would be pleasantly surprised by the rustic ambience the restaurant has. Shrouded by greenery with spacious al-fresco style seating, this place offers a great retreat from the hubbub of the city.

Chef Rizal who helms the kitchen of Timbre takes pride in the quality of food his customers receive. With an ever creative spirit, the menu is constantly revamped according to feedback.

A must-try would be the thin crust pizzas that come in a myriad of toppings. Freshly made and served straight from the oven, be ready for a whole new pizza experience. The Roast Duck Pizza is a delight with succulent duck meat and ginger slices set on top of the thin crust, glazed with a special sweet sauce. Crispy popiah (thin flour pancake) skin is generously sprinkled over, giving extra texture to each mouthful.

Another highly recommended dish is the Cajun Chicken, which satisfies with its well grilled chicken, topped with eye-pleasing colourful mango salsa that adds a great dash of flavour. Chomp this all down along with its creamily smooth mash potato drizzled with brown sauce that comes as a generous side.

For side dishes, try the crowd pleasing Beef Meatballs, which is a concoction of fresh minced beef infused with herbs and seasoning, rolled into delectable balls that are cooked and served on top a bed of fresh tomato paste.

If you are looking for just a simple side to go along with your chilled beer, the seafood basket would be the way to go with its deliciously-fried calamari, mussels and wedges. Served with home-made creamy tar-tar sauce and tangy Thai sauce, this dish is a great complement with beer.

One should also take delight in the range and quality of drinks available at Timbre. Beer guzzlers can indulge in a pint or two of Erdinger, while martini fans can lap up the house's lychee martini, which has a splash of secret ingredient that gives the drink a unique pink colour!

Adventurous souls can request to drink up a Flaming Tower, which in itself is a sight to behold with all the glass cups stacked up and drizzled with an alcoholic concoction before being set aflame.

Before all you closet alcoholics call it a day, slurp down the absolutely smile-inducing mix called the Tuttu, which is a decadently charming mix of Bailey's, strawberry puree and a splash of alcohol. Think girly, think strawberry milkshake delicious.

These epicurean satisfactions take place in an atmosphere of great music as Timbre takes much pride in being a platform for local acts. Aside from a couple of regular acts, such as EIC, Ngak, Alemay and Fatt, Timmy and Nigel's Tail, new musicians are constantly introduced and each visit exposes and/or reinvents various forms of music.

Most importantly, prices are very affordable for us poor university students, being that of $20 or less. With food, drinks and live music at jaw-dropping prices, what are you waiting for?

Satisfy your music and food cravings at Timber now! HOOKED
