Radio Pulze - Still Pulsating PDF Print E-mail
Written by Cherlyn Ding

Hands up - everyone who has heard of NUS Radio Pulze.

Ignoramus, here's some trivia for you. NUS Radio Pulze is the first non-course-based tertiary radio station to be set up here in Singapore, meaning that students run the radio station independent of curricular boundaries. Still not sure what it does? Read on as hooked finds out more...

Only into its fourth year, this young deejay group of NUS students coming from all faculties pool their expertise and efforts for their common passion in radio, music & Singaporean talent.

Thumbs up for Radio Pulze!

Radio Pulze broadcasts on every weekday (except public holidays), from 9am to 12am, including school vacations in December, as well as from May to July. Their playlist is diversified, with different music genres, from classical music to jazz, and even reggae, catering to the various niche groups of listeners.

As a campus radio station, Radio Pulze brings you the updates on the latest happenings in and around NUS, with various music programmes to introduce up-and-coming local musicians, so as to promote the local music scene.

Taking it one step further, Radio Pulze is airing a show dedicated to the NUS students' community.

"Random Rides with the Goons@Noon" - the one-and-a-half hour show that broadcasts every Monday at a not-so-aptly scheduled time of 1330 features two DJs, DJ Aaron and DJ GeeZee.

Listen to them as they attempt to fulfill their social responsibility towards the NUS community by sniffing out the best chill-out places a bus ride away from campus, the latest events in town and a quirky random segment that seeks to answer everything you don't need to know.

Now, a campus-based radio show wouldn't be considered as dedicated if it didn't feature students themselves! A special interactive segment of the show's blog, named "Purge of the Week", provides an avenue for students to rant about a unique topic every week - such as "Why doesn't Topshop carry an S size?" and "The most irritating things about public transport".

While they may still be amateurs in the radio scene, given their young radio age, do give these guys a chance. Glenn & FD won't be around forever, and these guys may just be the panacea you need to liven up those Monday blues. HOOKED
