At 15, she had a dream - to sing and perform on her very own stage.
At 25, she stood on the stage in Taipei Arena, singing her own songs.
March 31st, 2007 was the day when "Dreams Come True" for Taiwanese singer Angela Chang.
For those who missed her debut concert in Taipei, fret not, because her entire performance was intricately recorded in the newly released "Angela's Live @ Taipei" concert DVD.
Never mind that Japanese pop queen Ayumi Hamasaki just held her concert at the same venue a week before, or that Korean star Rain was in Taiwan for his concert on the very same day.
As Angela said, "Standing on this stage today is not Rain. It's me."
These words showed that Angela had absolute confidence in the performance she had lined up for the audience.
Living up to the name of "Princess of Change", throughout the concert, Angela had close to ten costumes, which included bare-shoulder gowns, cutesy one-piece dresses and a deep-V peacock dress. She managed to carry the various looks very well, be it cute, sexy or feminine, Angela definitely gave the audience a different visual feel each time.
Angela became popular after she delivered her debut acting in Taiwanese idol drama "My MVP Valentine" (2002). Who'd have thought that Angela, standing at 158cm, holds such a powerful voice within. That is, before she sang "Journey" and "The Lost Fairness" in the soundtrack for Taiwanese idol drama "At the Dolphin Bay" (2003).
The two songs were widely received and in the following year, Angela's debut album "Over The Rainbow" brought in great sales figures. This marked the start of her singing career and pushed her to be the superstar she is today.
In the concert DVD, Angela belted 23 songs, including many popular hits from her four albums. Besides the two abovementioned songs, there were Aurora, Invisible Wings, Flower in the Wonderland and Prediction, among others.
Special guest Fan Wei Qi also appeared to perform the duet song "If" and her own tune "One To One".
As what was described in the DVD, Angela's voice equates "10 million watts of power". Even by watching her performance on DVD, one can very well imagine her voice penetrating every space of Taipei Arena, making the whole concert a true listening sensation.
However, it is a pity that the concert DVD didn't include Angela's performance with the other special guest Sodagreen.
The album comes with a bonus DVD, which showcases much backstage action. It also shows how Angela prepared for the concert, from learning the cello and tap dancing to her costume fitting. Additionally, it contains the music video of her latest single "Can't Control", the theme song for a chewing gum commercial.
While this concert DVD is a must-have for Angela's fans, you don't have to be one, to enjoy concert. I did. hooked
