An arts event organized with youths in mind - now, what is not to like about that?

Noise Singapore 2007 is back and promises more exciting opportunities for young artists to get the chance of working together with more seasoned professionals while giving them a leg up into the once overlooked industry.

Hooked gives you more details about the event whilst cozying up with two of its young apprentices...

Noise Singapore is an event that taps into the media to showcase young talents in a bid to surge them forward into the competitive industry.

Yes, we all know how the arts have been dismissed by our traditional and conservative older folks. However, the introduction of an arts festival, which targets the youths, promises to groom our creative talents and grant them media exposure for their artworks.

The aptly named event aims for youths to step out and make waves in the arts culture by utilizing their passion for the arts and turning it into something tangible for exhibition. This media-based event, back for the third year running, provides three different platforms for youths under 25 to showcase their creativity.

During the tumulus teenage years, youths get attacked by bouts of angst and rebellion, which brings us to the first category in Noise Singapore 2007 - the Open Category that does not abide by a fixed theme (which the rebellious youth would rejoice). This category calls for experimentation with art forms and allows participants with unbridled creativity to release their potential.

The closing date for submission of all entries in the Open Category is 30th September 2007, which is done through the Noise website.

Competitions have to be set by theme and Noise Singapore 2007 has three forms of it in the competition category.

MTV is an influential medium amongst the youths and in the first competition, MTV Shoot and Snip, youths are encouraged to express their feelings towards HIV/AIDS through a 30-second video clip of which the winning entry would stand a chance of being featured on MTV Pop Inc. Although the theme is fixed, youths are allowed free reign of their creativity in crafting their video clip.

Literary Animation calls for all budding animators to bring selected works of literature to life in anyway that they want to. Finally, We Make Noise Not Clothes asks for youths to best interpret the titular slogan on a Tee Shirt.

These three aspects of the competition focus on youths and their individual interpretation towards the selected themes and winners would get a platform to exhibit their creations.
