Notable points of the press conference include the live renditions of the titular song in her album "In the Center of the World" and "A Second of Eternity", where her powerful vocals were spectacularly displayed.
We all know that the music industry is a cutthroat one, but when hearing about how Kelly had to do 24 takes of Shakalaka Baby and in different voices, I suppose one really has to applaud her perseverance and ingenuity.
Kelly described her experiences as interesting and showed us examples of how she had to create different ways of singing - most memorably, her Donald Duck rendition.
When it was pointed out to Kelly that she must have needed some experience in love to conjure up the necessary feeling to sing love songs, Kelly mentioned that she had 4 boyfriends and jokingly said that she actually had 400 when Cruz Teng commented that she should be exaggerating for the press.
She was tactful in not revealing too many details about her past love-life, choosing to say that they "all have their own personalities" when asked if they looked like any famous people.
Yet, the most worrying thing about Kelly, as was aptly highlighted by her teacher 'Fei-fei lao shi', is that she needed "to eat more".
Whether due to her busy and stressful lifestyle in Taiwan, or her rigorous training for the Shakalaka Baby music video, Kelly is looking extremely underfed. To call her emaciated would be exaggerating, but her stick-thin legs look barely strong enough to carry her, let alone withstand her vigorous dance moves.
The success of Kelly's album largely accrues to veteran producer Yao Qian (who has produced for Coco Lee, A*Mei and other famous Taiwanese artistes). He took to the stage briefly with Kelly to shed some light on her stressful lifestyle.
Kelly had skimmed through the discussion on the challenges she faced, but Yao Qian highlighted on how she had to start right at the bottom in Taiwan, working from dawn-to-dusk in an alien land.
Strangely, when the floor was opened to her fans, it was only the male fans who fired questions at her.
One asked her what was the food she missed most while she was in Taiwan, to which Kelly replied with gusto "Roti Prata".
Her excitement caused Cruz Teng to comment about the stark difference in her behavior when she was excitedly chattering about food as compared to her painful nervousness when her tutors were on stage. By the way, for all Kelly fans out there, she loves ordinary Roti Prata and Cheese Roti Prata.
Another fan asked about the French poem featured in "In the Center of the World", and Kelly explained how the poem was 'perfect for the song's overall meaning.'
Nearing the end of the press conference, Kelly was presented with a large Louis Vuitton cabin-bag (all you brand-conscious people can close your gaping mouths now) by Warner Music and exclaims in mock horror over the extravagance of the gift.
"(When I was an air stewardess) I used to say how absolutely wasteful it was to drag such an expensive bag across the floor! But I have one now!" she muses.
After she had thanked the audience and a few photocalls, she left the stage.
Kelly's press conference can be said to be reflective of her personality - personable and intimate with a slight aloofness that intrigues both the fans and the media.
It's good to see that even with her move to Taiwan, Kelly stays true to her roots and her personality. The change in personal image is merely a cosmetic change.
All the best to Kelly and HOOKED wishes you best of luck for your new album! hooked
