The holiday season is finally here, and Singapore's having its own winter wonder(-fully wet)land! While snuggling in bed is an absolute must during such weather, we simply can't head out like we've just rolled out of bed, can we?

Take a peek into HOOKED's Comfy Couture Closet that's crazy about comfort and high on style.

1. Get fitted jeans

Let's start with the epitome of comfort wear - jeans! Every undergrad must always be armed with a (or even multiple) pair of jeans that are fitting and flattering.

There is a huge range to pick from - low rise, flared, skinny, boot cut, straight, etc. - and sometimes navigating between them to get to that perfect pair can be difficult. But it is worth the effort, trust us. A well-fitted pair of denims brings you from fashion fub to fashion fab in an instant.

Jeans aren't just any other pair of trousers that need to hang on your hips. The cut, and even the wash, matter. Here's a helpful online guide that might come in handy when making the pick.

Tip #1: If you have trouble finding the holy grail of denim (i.e. the perfect pair that sculpts your body perfectly), get the second best pair of jeans and send it off to your tailor. After an additional 10 bucks and an hour or so, you'll get your pair of jeans, tailored to hide all your flaws and focus on your assets. When you feel good, you look good.

The great thing about jeans is that they are always in season, which makes it a worthwhile investment. Lighter colored denims are always so casual and perfect for every day at university, while a darker pair is great for formal days in school. Plus, it'll take you from the classroom to a night out in town. To up the style factor, slip into these higher-end denims:

The right pair certainly goes a long way in making a simple outfit look sexy or playful (or for the guys, absolutely "fit"), so investing in a good pair of denims is the first step to comfy couture.

Tip #2: We've been hearing that bootcut jeans are making a comeback! Skinny-s be gone!

2. Pick out funky shirts

If you want to stay comfortable, you can't always be wearing dressy tops or blouses or collared shirts. Sometimes the material is bound to be polyester-based for that shine, and that just means that by your four o'clock lecture, you're going to be all sweated out. Kinda gross huh?

How does one look glowing, instead of sweaty? Simple cotton tees or half-sleeved shirts; but instead of them just being monochromatic, have some sort of funky design. A witty (not sleazy or slutty or lame) comment, a funny slogan, or just an amusing picture that is in good taste makes a plain tee look funkalicious.

Abstract art, or just random splotches of colour can also bring out your individuality. Plenty of local designers have stores in Far East Plaza, Heeren and Bugis, which are bursting at the seams with creative designs that demand your attention and a second look. Namedrop these the next time someone asks where you get your funky tees:

The trick is to be selective when picking these shirts - avoid shirts that make people want to roll their eyes, or tees that claim that you're hot stuff when you're really not. You don't want to be a poseur; you want to be tastefully funny. Vintage or Junk Food tees are a great place to start but avoid jumping on fads like the "Little Miss" tees that have taken over the world.

The point is to be unique, so looking high and low (and maybe even online) for these shirts might be the only troublesome part of this look. And hey, you could literally be rolling out of bed in these comfortable tees and none would be the wiser.
