As Asians, we have a penchant for all things red - from the yummy-looking red Sony Vaio to questionable red skinny jeans, and even red underwear for that little bit of luck. But just how should we wear red, looking fabulous, instead of being on the most wanted list of the fashion police?

Our fairer skin tones and dark hair make us the perfect wearers of red, so HOOKED is bringing you four ways to play up our advantages, adding red to the list of essential colours you will be stocking up your wardrobe with this year!

1. Go easy on the accessories

She might have overloaded on the botox but that has not stopped Nicole Kidman from being voted as one of the best-dressed female stars every year. To take a leaf out of Nicole’s book, keep accessories to the minimal when wearing a red dress. Simply complement it with a bracelet and you are on your way to looking like a star!

2. Yes ladies, bring on the red lipsticks!

Many ladies assume that they cannot wear red lipstick for fear of looking like Marilyn Manson. So ladies, here is the rule: the fairer you are, the darker shade of red your lipstick should be. Only mascara is needed to open up your eyes, and go light on the blush.

        Looking gorgeous already!

3. Red on black

Seeing as how vintage is the rage now, there is no need to clean out your wallet buying vintage clothes, which can be rather expensive. It does not make sense paying so much for old clothes, does it?

So save the money, put on that little black dress, throw on the red lipstick and it is back to the 50’s in an instant! Oh, another reason to buy that red lipstick for your make-up pouch!

4. There is always a bag for every occasion

You can wear red on your bag to complement your outfit.

As the saying goes, a picture speaks a thousand words. Need I say more?

There are many more ways to wearing red, but these four basics will put you on your way to a great new year! It is time to get hooked on red, people! HOOKED
