Written by Darrel Chua & Lee Wei Fen
Men are from Mars, women are from Venus? Whilst putting this article together, we realized there may be more similarities between the two sexes than what meets the eye, and there are certain fundamental gestures that touch even the toughest macho men and ice queens around town.

Not convinced yet? Read on and make your own conclusions.

He says: 10 small gestures which will make his day - done by her.

        1. Perk up his day even when you're not around. By this I don't mean calling him on the hour, but leave little notes/post-its that he sure would be able to find. E.g on his homework, laptop, underwear drawer J etc. It never fails to bring a pleasant smile and surprise.

        2. Give and take - He has been with you the entire week, listening, calling and accompanying you to those endless shopping trips. Give him the Saturday night off to hang out and relax with his friends. Not only will he come back refreshed, rejuvenated and loving you more, you become a mature, sensitive and understanding girlfriend in his eyes. The brownie points you earn are invaluable.

pdv076006        3. Surprise him! - An unannounced visit by a loved one never fails to brighten up his day.

Disclaimer: We will not be held responsible for any revelations of unfaithful partners should one put this gesture into practice.

        4. Food - they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. It doesn't get any more real than that. Whet his appetite and all his testosterone-inducing nonsense will be overcome. Both you and he benefit!

        5. Send him on an ego-trip - When he's with friends, a nice compliment or praise often does wonders. Guys are dumb like that, but we love it when we our egos get soothed in public all the same.

        6. Do the same even when he's alone. A simple and sincere "you look hot today" is enough to melt any guy's heart and make his day. As confident as we may look, we still are in need of reassurance from time to time.

        7. Dress up, look good. I know he should love you for who yminigestures1ou are and that inner beauty is from within. However, we still appreciate a little effort spent in making yourself look good for the date. After all, it is a reflection on him. (Don't you ladies love dressing up anyway?)

        8. Show some love - We are big softies at heart. A little kiss and hug goes a long way in just showing the affection that you have for him. We always love a little intimacy.

        9. Join in! Attend an event that he is involved in - a soccer or basketball match, an exhibition that he has put up - even though you absolutely hate sports and only watch matches for the cute guys from Spain or Italy every 4 years.

        10. Acknowledge and compliment - It's not really in our genes to always be romantic or sensitive. So when we do something which is pleasantly surprising, recognize the effort. A simple "Thank you, that was sweet" would suffice. It'll help us learn to treat girls the way they want to!
