Music was starting to sound the same when they came along.
Lip-syncing was the rage until they restored the faith that good musicians
remain committed to giving good music to their fans.
Excitement was in the air and the eagerness of the 10,000
crowds was keenly exhibited as they focused their undivided attention onto the
stage even when their butts barely grazed their seats they were shown to. Although
the stage was not elaborately decorated, the simplicity of it all was the first
assurance that it was going to be a night of good, live music.
Maroon 5 definitely lived up to the expectations of their
fans with an aurally delectable night. As soon as Adam Levine started off the
first set with a song from the second album, the fans totally forgot the band
was half an hour late.
While he pulled off the fast
numbers well, the slow numbers like ‘Sunday Morning' and ‘Nothing Lasts
Forever' showed off the prowess of the handsome lead singer and at the same
time, highlighted a slightly evolved sound of Adam Levine from the band's first
album.
The rest of the band, which includes guitarist James Valentine, bassist
Mickey Madden, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael and new drummer Matt Flynn, who
replaced Ryan Ducick who was down due to wrist injuries suffered from endless
touring, really shared and enjoyed extremely good chemistry with one another.
They complemented one another really well and that beautiful chemistry they
shared was all the more apparent in the live setting.
The raw emotions that emanated from every song he sang struck a chord in many a heart in the audience. It is always said that you can
only perform best when you enjoy the job you do. Adam Levine undoubtedly enjoys
his job as the lead singer of the band; evident through the subtle ways he
flirted with the females in the audience! Ladies of all ages screamed their
hearts and lungs out each time he picked up his electronic guitar and started
strumming. It was as though boyfriends and husbands ceased to exist for the
duration of the concert.
Adam Levine was sexy and knew exactly how to work his charm.
The plain white t-shirt showed hints of skin each time he raised his hands, but no one's complaining! Just as Mickey
Madden, in an interview with Straits Times, said that the rest of the band with
the exclusion of Adam Levine could roam the streets without disguises, Adam
must have had honed his skills at dealing with enamoured fans. The man is a
smooth-talker as good as he is a singer as he took the audience to a higher
level of ecstasy each time he made small talk in between the sets.
The concert was superb. The band has proved that with the talent they have and the strong rapport they share among themselves, they will definitely be staying on the music
scene for quite a while. The camaraderie they enjoy as a band can certainly be
felt as Adam Levine constantly expressed gratitude to his band members
for their efforts.
The only gripe about the concert? It ended all too soon
after one and a half hours!
Nevertheless, Maroon 5 is one of the few bands that can
perform live. It was definitely worth skipping tutorial the next day just to
attend their concert. They've got a groupie in me already! HOOKED
