Sick of the usual pubs and clubs but don't want to head home even in the wee hours of the morning? We unearths Ambrosia Divine Pleasures and declare it a worthy check-out.

Racking your brains for a cool chill-out place after a big party? Ambrosia Divine Pleasures, situated at a cozy corner at Baghdad Street, is the answer to your call! This exotic Mediterranean cafe offers an array of Turkish, Spanish and Greek cuisine, from light starters to desserts that simply leave you craving for more. One of the highlights of the menu is the after dinner Shisha, a form of tobacco smoking, through a huge oriental tobacco pipe.

The Hooked team made a trip down to the Mediterranean cafe located in an area rich in cultural heritage to savour the food. The two-storey cafe had a slight Mediterranean touch with an open air concept for the ground level. The upper deck was laid with thick Persian carpets and well furnished with low tables, big comfortable cushions and beaded curtains. What I liked most about the place was the soft lighting which made the place cosy, intimate and probably romantic for couples.

escargot_allioli.jpgIn Greek mythology, ambrosia was a balsamic juice, which served as the “ Food of the Gods” and was said to preserve their immortality. Mortals who were permitted to partake of ambrosia were said to receive additional beauty, strength, and swiftness.

Although Ambrosia has only been open for 8 months, it has drawn the weekend crowds to its 2 cafes situated close to each other. One of the reasons behind this is its opening hours (that is till 5am on friday and saturday nights and 3am for the rest of the days.) This offers youngsters an alternative place to hang out.

Ambrosia serves a wide spread of Mediterranean cuisine cooked with an abundance of herbs and spices. For light starters, we tried the Escargot Allioli and Cigalas. Escargot Allioli is actually de-shelled escargots sauteed in garlic and butter whereas Cigalas is slipper lobster that is oven-roasted with lemon, onion, garlic and orange. Both dishes have a very unique taste.
