The Famous Pork and Cheese Hot Dog from the Western Food Stall

The highlight of the Business Canteen according to several students is the Western Food stall. The service is fast, the food is scrumptious, the stall owner is very polite and the Honey Chicken Leg dish was claimed to be one of the top dishes of the canteen at the Cuisine Fiesta. Each meal is filling and is accompanied by the extra side dishes such as the fries and pastas. The prices are reasonable and suitable for the students of the university. People are more than willing to migrate from the Arts Faculty to the Business Canteen for all its variety of food stalls.

Chicken Rice without the soup

Another popular stall is the Chicken Rice stall. Each canteen on the NUS campus has a Chicken Rice stall and the one at business is considered to be one of the best. It has a simple yet appealing presentation without any fuss and tastes amazing. The Roasted Chicken Rice dish without soup was the other top dish selected at the Cuisine Fiesta. Although some find the rice to be a little dry and off-beat in terms of taste, several seem to enjoy the dish thoroughly. If anyone is looking for a quick delicious meal that serves healthy eaters as well, the Chicken Rice stall is the place to line up.

Plate of Indian delights

The Indian Food stall was also chosen as a top caterer in the Cuisine Fiesta. They have a range of local Indian dishes out of which the Butter Chicken has a rich taste, the Pepper Chicken is beautifully spiced and the Tandoori Chicken is wholesome. Some consider one or two dishes to be a little saltier than usual hence consistency is key to the success of most of the stalls. The Indian Food stall offers vegetarian options as well and keeps its dishes simple and tasty.

dumplings

The Beijing Fengwei stall at the Business Canteen also got selected as having one of the best dishes which was their well crafted 20 dumplings. A lot of people enjoy this authentic Chinese dish. No one eats a dumpling in two to three bites, a dumpling is consumed in one large bite literally gobbled down by individuals. Its delicate and soft texture and the quick movement of the eater’s chopsticks create quite an advertisement for the winning 20 dumplings. However to foreign exchange students or international students this dish is quite unknown and since quite a few enjoy the Asian flavours, the 20 dumplings could be a bigger hit.

wrap

The Mediterranean stall is another great cuisine offering made by the Business Canteen. It’s a nice change from the usual Chinese, Western or Indian. They have several kinds of wraps, the all-time favourite pita bread with Humus and other Mediterranean delights. Some may find the flavours overpowering yet some devour the Kebabs. It’s a must try for everyone.

viet

Another authentic cuisine offering is made by the Vietnamese stall. Not only does this stall make the Vietnamese students feel at home, it allows us to explore different flavours, textures and combinations of noodles, rice and seafood.

The Chinese Food stall and the Muslim Food stall caters to all those used to their home-cooked meals. With an array of dishes to pick and choose from both the Chinese and the Muslim stalls make the local students feel right at home. Following these local delights the Yong Tau Fu stall usually has long lines. Not only is the dish simple and made to your taste it is a staple meal that never goes out of season. However compared to the top four stalls these either lack in the “selling quality”, the salesperson or the ability to draw in a loyal crowd.

nasi

While these stalls are quite mediocre the Western, Indian, Chicken Rice and Beijing Fengwei stalls are preferred by most at the Business Canteen. HOOKED
